Spread the love

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

This morning I was on my Facebook and looked at my existing cover photo of a Christmas ornament that simply said hope. Today that is what I cling to. I have a relative that is on hospice and soon she will more than likely breath her last breath on this earth. A good friend was taken to the hospital for a possible heart attack. Cousins were on lock down at their school. A sweet baby is sick with a high fever and so many other things happening. Some situations more severe than others, yet they all matter.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24

I can hope that the doctors find a way somehow make my loved ones better, I can hope that the issue at the school is resolved peacefully without any harm, I can hope for a million dollars or world peace, but that isn’t the hope I cling to. This morning a friend posted on Facebook the following: God is _________________. There were several comments such as good, my all, my everything, timely, amazing, my creator, My first thought was My God is just. He is merciful, loving, kind, and good, but He is fair. The Father sent His Son to redeem us; to allow us a relationship with Him. He didn’t do it so our life on earth would be perfect, He did it so we could be restored and once again have the opportunity to spend eternity with Him. It’s a choice though; He won’t force us. For those that do serve Him, praying our loved ones turn to Him and make things right is really our only option. I read a book once and the author was praying and asking God why, why didn’t He stop a situation. She said God replied something similar to He didn’t just sit there. He got up on the Cross to save the deepest part of you—the part that will never die. He protected the part of you that responds to My voice.

That is my hope. My hope is in the One that loves me enough to protect the part of me that never dies. My hope is knowing as long as there is breath there is chance for my loved ones. I refuse to sit and say an empty prayer. I want my family saved and I have hope they will!

I Refuse
By: Josh Wilson

Sometimes I, I just want to close my eyes
And act like everyone’s alright, when I know they’re not
This world needs God, but it’s easier to stand and watch
I could say a prayer and just move on, like nothing’s wrong

But I refuse
‘Cause I don’t want to live like I don’t care
I don’t want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to
Sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
Oh, I could choose not to move
But I refuse
I can hear the least of these, crying out so desperately
And I know we are the hands and feet, of You, oh God
So if You say move, it’s time for me to follow through
And do what I was made to do, and show them who You are
‘Cause I don’t want to live like I don’t care
I don’t want to say another empty prayerOh, I refuse to
Sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
Oh, I could choose not to move
But I refuse
To stand and watch the weary and lost
Cry out for help
I refuse to turn my back and try and act
Like all is well
I refuse to stay unchanged, to wait another day
To die to myself
I refuse to make one more excuse
‘Cause I don’t want to live like I don’t care
I don’t want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to
Sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
Oh, I could choose not to move
But I refuse
