Questions We Ask About God – Why Did The Dog Eat My Socks & Why Do Actual Bad Things Happen

Spread the love

Sometimes life just stinks. Water heaters break, cars get hit, people we love die, and tragedies happen that we can’t understand. Why? The answer, at its core, is free will. God gave us free will, and with it comes the possibility of both good and evil. Things in this world don’t last forever—our bodies, our belongings, even life itself—because of the original sin. But even in the midst of grief, God’s love surrounds us, and through Jesus, our souls have the promise of everlasting life. Free will doesn’t make life easy, but it is the foundation of both our struggles and the gift of genuine love.

Questions We Ask About God – If Soap Exists, Why Are People Still Dirty?

Questions We Ask About God – If Soap Exists, Why Are People Still Dirty?

Spread the love

Any of these questions seem familiar? No, not really? Let me change a word or two and I bet it’s something you’ve heard or maybe even said before. If there’s a loving God, why is there so much bad in the world? If God exists, why did [insert bad thing here] happen?

I’m one of the few Christians out here that you’ll hear say this, but I don’t think it’s wrong to question. I think questions are good and they lead us to a deeper understanding. God condemns hardness of hearts, but I’ve never seen Him condemn honest confusion and questions.

Faith Without Works is Dead

Faith Without Works is Dead

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:25-26 I have so many thoughts here and...

My Mind is Blown at Eve’s Disobedience

My Mind is Blown at Eve’s Disobedience

while Eve could sin because obviously she had free will and could disobey God. She was completely capable of unseen sins that live only in the heart such as lust, but the outward showing of those wasn’t available to her. At the beginning Eve couldn’t commit every sin that we can commit today. Adulatory and fornication, for example, weren’t possible, the only humans at that point were Adam and Eve.

Purity Culture: Pure or Purely Toxic

Purity Culture: Pure or Purely Toxic

I've seen and heard so much on purity culture lately, reels, memes, podcast, it's everywhere. Based on things I've said in the past that continually get thrown in my face I decided to jump in and give my thoughts and we all know it’s going to be side tracked about 2...

Job’s Wife: Evil Queen Loving Wife

Job’s Wife: Evil Queen Loving Wife

Sometime ago my sister saw a clip of Tim Hawkins talking about Job's wife. She didn't save the clip so I didn't see it then, but she told me about it. A short time passed and I saw it on one of my social media pages. I laughed because hello it was funny, but then my...

But They Don’t Deserve Forgiveness

But They Don’t Deserve Forgiveness

Spread the love

When we talk about forgiveness there is so much to discuss and unpack and I won’t even begin to cover the surface. We all know the verses on forgiveness, we’re supposed to forgive 70×7. God forgave us so we have to forgive others. Let’s talk first about why forgiveness even matters to God. To do that I feel like we gotta go back to the Old Testament and the law. Calm down, I know speaking of the old Levitical law stresses some of you but just hold on. Before we’re there though we gotta go back, way on back, back, way on back, back to the beginning. We’re starting this rant at the very beginning – Creation.

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

Before we get into the song go grab the free downloadable journal pages at my store here. They're free so just go get 'em and use 'em. You can print out whichever pages you like and the others just ignore, again, they're free. Now, onto the song. Have you ever...

Beyond the Meal: A Call to Connection

Beyond the Meal: A Call to Connection

The other day I was listening to the radio on my way to pick up the kid from school. They gave an illustration, but because it was on the radio it was about 10 seconds long and you know I'm gonna add to it so here goes. Imagine your great grandparents are alive and...

Waging War

Waging War

Roughly a year and a half ago I wrote a post about battle, you can read it here. I'm still praying for some of the situations I was praying for then. Other battles have came and gone and there are new battles that started after that post was written. Things have...

Romans 8:28 My Story

Romans 8:28 My Story

I've always planned to tell parts of my story from these last few years. Parts are too personal to share, but there are parts that God weaved together that I believe are just too good to keep to myself. So let's jump in and head back to March 2020. I recall the exact...

Battle Time

Battle Time

For those that don't know much about me, I grew up the youngest of five children in a christian home. My father wasn't saved for the first few years of my life, but he knew and taught us the Word even before he was saved. I can go back for generations and see the...

Trust

I was in two Sunday School classes today. Strange, I know, but that's just the way it went. Both had the same lesson but the teachers went in very different directions. The lesson was simply titled A Friend of God. The first lesson focused on obedience. Luke 15: 14...

They Can’t Come In Unless They’re Invited

They Can’t Come In Unless They’re Invited

In recent months my niece informed me that she didn't think she had ever seen the 1992 movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer. If you've never seen it, just know it is a very cheesy and corny 90's movie. Towards the end of the movie there is a dance for the senior class in...

Grace or Guilt

Grace or Guilt

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:1-3 Have...

Love Today & Tomorrow

Love Today & Tomorrow

I should be home or at the very least traveling there. Unless you've been under a rock you've seen the weather and you know that it's gross in most of the US right now. That means traveling is discouraged. The area I live in is pretty much covered in a sheet of ice...

I’m Too Much

I’m Too Much

I'm too much! There are days I'm more than I can handle so I know that no one else can. Some can only handle me in small doses, stretched out few and far between. Then there are a few brave ones can handle me at full strength. I get it, I'm more than some people can...

Are You Washed in the Blood?

Are You Washed in the Blood?

This past Sunday during service we sang the song Are You Washed in the Blood. Towards the end of the song the song leader asked us to look at ourselves. Am I washed in the blood? In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are my garments spotless, are they white as...

Thanks Not Fear

Thanks Not Fear

As christians we preach about thanking God in all situations, but this year many of us have failed to do that. This year I've heard very little praise or thanks for what we have. Instead I've heard lots of complaining about 2020 and wanting it to be over. Even as I...

God’s Timetable Not Mine

God’s Timetable Not Mine

A few weeks ago my brother's family left my house at the same time as I did with both vehicles headed to the same destination. He pulled out before me so I was right behind him most of the way. We were about halfway there and now with a bit of distance between us I...
