I should be home or at the very least traveling there. Unless you’ve been under a rock you’ve seen the weather and you know that it’s gross in most of the US right now. That means traveling is discouraged. The area I live in is pretty much covered in a sheet of ice with below freezing temps for the next several days. While I should be home, I’m with family instead.
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and I’m perfectly content with where I am. I’m with some of the people that love me the most. The ones that will drop whatever they are doing to come be with me if needed. The ones that worry too much about me. The ones that I am the absolute closest to and the ones that helped me become the person I am. So many people consider Valentine’s Day to be nothing more than a Hallmark holiday, a made up holiday so chocolate and card companies can make extra money. They’re businesses, their job is to make money, it’s what they do and I don’t fault them for that. For me it’s a random day in February that I can tell those closest to me that I love and appreciate them. The Bible tells us that God is love. If I have God dwelling in me then shouldn’t Valentine’s Day mean more than a day to show love to your significant other. For that matter shouldn’t each day be a day to show God’s love?
I’m blessed to be able to spend the day with some of my favorite people. Wish my oldest brother were here with us though. Although I wish he were here I’ll take what I can get and I’ll be more than thankful. I’ll recognize that I’m here because God loves me and has given me this opportunity to spend time with those I love.
Don’t take the time you have with loved ones for granted. Make everyday like Valentine’s Day and love on those around you.
