Spread the love

My mind was blown last night. Picture the movie Inside Out and imagine all the little people in the brain going crazy. Bouncing off the walls like a pinball machine, lights flashing, sirens sounding, and so much more cause I’m positive that’s what happened last evening in my brain. Someone mentioned Eve in the Garden of Eden and how Satan’s tactics haven’t really changed. Valid point, I’ve said the same before so I agree. I can’t even tell you the entire statement that was given though because I got caught up very quickly and stunned by the thought I had. Don’t get confused it isn’t anything ground breaking, it’s just something I had never thought of. For those of you that know me you know I’m basically always thinking so for me to have never had this thought cross my mind seems crazy. The person said Satan didn’t tempt Eve to commit something like adulatory and that’s when I was gone, my brain spiraling. I realized that while Eve could sin because obviously she had free will and could disobey God. She was completely capable of unseen sins that live only in the heart such as lust, but the outward showing of those wasn’t available to her. At the beginning Eve couldn’t commit every sin that we can commit today. Adulatory and fornication, for example, weren’t possible, the only humans at that point were Adam and Eve. Before I keep writing please hear me loud and clear, I am NOT saying these things are how she felt, I am saying that these things are humanly possible. She could have looked at Adam and thought God, why? Why didn’t you give him eyes like the tiger? Why didn’t you give him muscles like the lion? Why isn’t his hair the color of the black panther and as soft as the birds feathers? Then as she dosed off to sleep she may have dreamed her ideal “Adam”. Over time Adam, the actual man before her that God created her for, became less and less attractive to her and she wanted someone else, but who? There was no other man to be found.

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28

I gotta keep myself on track or I’m gonna go off on fourteen other tangents, like how one sin leads to another or how discontentment seems innocent to us but isn’t at all. Although this is 100% hypothetical she entertained ideas that she shouldn’t have which eventually lead to lust in her heart. If there had been another man available she could have left Adam with her new found freedom. Whoa, simply taking her thoughts captive in this alternate universe would have stopped so many issues before they began.

bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5b

Back to my thoughts last night, see what I mean when I say she could have unseen sins like lust, but there was no one else there for her to fornicate with so the actual outward act of sin she couldn’t do? Then I started wondering what other sins she couldn’t do. What about murder, no she could murder Adam. Well what about lying? No, again Adam was there and she could lie to Adam. What about stealing? Adam and Eve were married so they were one so she couldn’t really steal from him. Then the other mind blowing at least to me thought came crashing in. You can steal from God and she did. When we talk about Eve we often talk about how she disobeyed God by eating of the fruit. In reality that is exactly what happened, bottom line sin is nothing more than disobeying God. Disobeying God happens in many different ways. In the case of Eve she physically did more though than just eat the fruit, she stole from God. That was His tree. His tree, His rules. His tree so He has the right to say what others can and cannot do. He was very plain, don’t eat from that tree.

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8

Before anyone comes at me with nonsense that God was mean for putting the tree there and tempting them if they couldn’t have it. Don’t most people believe my house, my rules or my car, my rules?  I’m not talking about going to extremes. Just basic common sense, like this is my car not yours. so don’t just get in and leave with it. I’m not being a jerk to the thief for parking my car in the parking lot and “tempting” him or her. Same thing applies in the Garden of Eden with God. He had every right to “park” His tree in the Garden and place basic rules like don’t eat from it.

I could seriously continue with so many random thoughts in my head, but I’ll hush for now. As always leave a comment with your thoughts.
